An International Star Is Born

Some say that those who run races are crazy. We who run those races know that we are crazy. We do them because they make us feel good and we are addicted, obsessed even with our running events.

So how crazy are you? How far would you go to run in an event? I don’t mean how far as in, what would you do, but I literally mean how far…as in miles.

Drive an hour or two to an event? No big deal.  Traveled outside the state? Impressive, but lots have done it. What about across the country? Maybe, if the race is big enough, fun enough, or prestigious enough. But would you travel to another country?

Jon Goodall would and he is coming to us.  From the United Kingdom to Hollywood, Jon is traveling all this way to run the red carpet with you.

Now the really impressive part is that Jon isn’t really a runner.  Well, it’s not his main sport.  Although Jon has run five half marathons and one full marathon, his main sport is Indoor Rowing with a total of 94 races.  His achievement in rowing could put many to shame including a couple of team relay world records. Just a couple.

Did I mention that he also competed in the U.K. version of the TV show Wipeout? He had to fly to Argentina for that.

This is the first year that Jon will be running the Hollywood Half for Llanerbis Mountain Rescue Team.  When I asked about his hopes for this run, his first comment had to do with weather. Since they are having their coldest winter ever in the UK, he just wants some warmth.  I think Southern California can handle that.

Look out for Jon at the expo or on the race course give him a warm Hollywood welcome! The red carpet is glad to have an international guest!

  2. Best of luck Jon & thank you for raising funds for the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team. We need all the help we can get!! Epic Easter weekend with all the snow still around and the crowds on the mountain. 4 rescues alone yesterday with 2 separate individuals falling well over 300 feet. All packaged safely off to hospital thankfully!! Don't get too used to all that lovely Hollywood weather though or you won't want to race with us again in the rain in the Snowdonia Marathon in October!! Enjoy the Californian hospitality I'm sure it's legendary reputation will help you to a PB!!
